Information Architecture is about the arrangement of content and interactions in a way that makes sense. Most information architects are practitioners on the web, forgetting that our inspiration can be found off-line too, often in the most unlikely of places.

Users will ignore your architecture and take their own path. The first user to break with your pathway will have been a trailblazer, the users that followed will be fulfilling (often unconsciously) a social proof, feeling at ease that they are simply doing what (many) others have done before.
